Commisioning of vessel mains supply system with decreased SG revolutions

Date: 22 maj 2024

Recently, we successfully commisioned next ship network power supply system designed by us using converter, enabling  vessel power plant to operate at reduced shaft generator speeds (and thus the main engine). This system works perfectly with commercially available devices and software for fuel consumption optimization (e.g. FRUGAL), on ships equipped with a conventional propulsion and CPP.

As results of converter installation, appropriate automation and protections, we have eliminated the need for auxiliary generating sets to operate during main engine run at reduced speeds. This provides huge fuel savings over the year, and also reduces the wear of auxiliary engines.

The last launch took place on the Hav Brim ship, where we implemented 250kVA system. All design, installation and commisioning work was carried out exclusively by the STEMOR team of engineers.
